Unexpectedly, the fourth Rift Magus Reborn novel turned out to be the series conclusion. While there are a few remaining loose ends (which the author freely admits in the Afterword), it ends in a pretty good spot; right as the protagonist becomes a newly established power. So an overall solidly entertaining series.
I couldn’t get into Sean Oswald‘s first Magic Eater novel. While it has a setup not too dissimilar from Guardian of Aster Fall‘s the protagonist here is much worse, oscillating seemingly at random between risk-adverse coward and impulsive idiot.
