While the times may change, the notorious thief Lupin III and his friends Jigen Daisuke and Goemon Ishikawa, along with the mercurial Fujiko Mine, stay the same. Whether the target is a bank vault or digital currency stashed on a secure server, they’ll stop at nothing to complete the heist… even if the whole world is watching while they do it.

A stand-alone continuation of the 2015 Lupin series, with a similar mix of episodic and overarching stories.

Fate EXTRA: Last Encore

With little interest in school life Hakuno Kishinami’s placid façade conceals thoughts and daydreams filled with hatred and death, feelings he cannot pinpoint the source of. That changes on the morning he visits a mysterious area of the school shrouded in rumors of suicide and waking nightmares, where he learns that this existence is nothing but a virtual world designed to trap potential Masters.

A philosophical dialog-heavy drama with occasional action scenes and small bits of slice of life-ish comic relief. It can be watched either as a stand alone story or as an alternate universe supplement to Fate/Stay Night.

DARLING in the FRANXX

On a devastated world where vicious beasts roam the wilds, children called ‘parasites’ are grouped into male-female pairs in order to pilot the giant robots which keep the remaining bastions of civilization safe. Having failed the piloting test Hiro believes his life is over, but as one of the beasts attack the parasites’ graduation ceremony he suddenly gets a second chance when the mysterious horned beauty Zero Two accepts him as her ‘darling’.

A romantic action drama with a moderate amount of comic relief (often ecchi-centric) and large number of sexual double entendres.

Tenchi Muyou!: Ryou-Ouki

Content with his normal everyday life, Tenchi Masaki receives a nasty shock one morning after accidentally awakening the infamous space pirate who had been sealed within the depths of his family’s shrine. It turns out he’s in fact alien royalty, and soon two princesses, an accident-prone galaxy police officer, and a mad scientist show up to complicate things even further. With the number of Tenchi’s houseguests now constantly on the rise it seems his life will never be normal again.

A slapstick-focused harem comedy featuring occasional nudity which periodically adopts space opera aspects. Note that the GXP series takes place around the same time as episode 21 and becomes heavily referenced from that point on.

HAPPY KISS!: Binan Koukou Chikyuubouei-bu

The previous members of the Earth Defense Club have long ago, or perhaps not so long ago, graduated from high school and the club is now populated by a new group of students much like the old ones. Also much like their predecessors, while relaxing at the bathhouse they’re suddenly visited by a talking animal who presses them into service as Magic Knights!

A series with a fondness for bathhouse scenes that’s part observational/philosophical comedy and part 4th wall-breaking magical girl parody. Thematically identical, plot-wise it’s completely independent from the first three works in the franchise.

Part abstract bathhouse discussion, part dry observational comedy, and part magical girl parody. Note that about a third of it recaps the character introductions from the two previous seasons.

Hisone to Masotan

Hisone Amakasu has always had trouble interacting with people due to her tendency to blurt out whatever happens to be on her mind, and so in an effort to create some space for herself she decides to join the JASDF on a temporary basis. It’s there that, after being swallowed by a dragon, she discovers something she just might be perfectly suited for.

A comedy centered on the air force featuring notable themes of self-discovery and sexual harassment. The early vore content eventually becomes supplanted by a couple of romantic subplots.

Those in this world who make a living ending the cycles of despair caused by viscous monsters called ‘spirals’ are referred to as ‘periods’. Haru and his friends are three such fighters who work for the periods’ 8th Branch Office, which was forced to shut down after a thief stole their treasury. With nearly all the other former employees having moved on to greener prospects it now falls to them to rebuild it.

A 4th-wall breaking parody series inspired by a smartphone game.

Tada-kun wa Koi o Shinai

Mitsuyoshi Tada has never had much interest in romance, preferring to focus on his photography, and so doesn’t think much of the foreign girl who transfers into his school and ends up staying at the apartment building next to his grandfather’s coffee shop. As the year goes on the two find themselves spending much of their time together… and his opinion slowly begins to change.

A school life comedy with secondary romance elements and a small dramatic streak.
