Returning to Earth after the events on Rakuyou, Gintoki and the gang discover that the planet has become ground-zero for an intergalactic war over the energy reserves Utsuro has been controlling. Once again Edo is under alien rule and it falls to the Yorozuya and their allies to free the city and stop Utsuro once and for all.

Continues from where Rakuyou Kessen Hen left off with the same genre variety. Though it begins with a brief recap there’s little point in watching it without having seen most of the earlier entries in the franchise, starting from at least Gintama’.

Gintama.: Rakuyou Kessen Hen

After all that’s happened with the government, Gintoki has been forced to leave the Kabuki district and lay low in Akiba with Katsura’s rebels. Utsuro is still out there though and Shouyou’s former students must now band together despite their differences to have any hope of defeating him.

A continuation of Gintama° with the same multi-genre style of mixed battle shounen and comedy elements. It’s heavily plot-driven and won’t make any sense if you’re not already familiar with the characters’ histories.

The restoration of Liones is proceeding apace and all seems well within the kingdom. The Demon Clan’s threat is far from extinguished however, and Meliodas and the others soon find themselves under attack from the clan’s 10 strongest warriors.

Continues from where Seisen no Shirushi left off with the same genre composition as the first series.

Hitori no Shita: THE OUTCAST 2

With Chulan Zhang’s presence having been revealed to the rest of Outsider society, various factions begin maneuvers to claim the source of his power for their own. They decide to hold the Great Taoist Festival as a means of singling him out, a plan which Jing Lu disrupts by declaring that the victor of the tournament will be rewarded with his secret Stairway to Heaven technique.

A continuation of the previous Hiori no Shita series weighted more toward action. You’ll have to watch that first to see how the characters are related.

UQ HOLDER!: Mahou Sensei Negima! 2

Saved from the brink of death by the ancient vampire Evangeline McDowell, Touta Konoe is told that his parents died in a car accident. His life continues as normal for a time until one day an assassin attacks Evangeline, now going by the name Yukihime, and the truth of his newfound power and immortality is revealed.

An action-comedy centered on graphic combat between immortals that briefly dips into harem comedy toward the end before finishing as a battle shounen. As indicated by the title, this is a sequel to Mahou Sensei Negima! and features prominent callbacks to it. While for the most part it can be watched as a stand-alone, having seen that series first will help.

Otoku Juku, a fabled institution that accepts dropouts from across Japan in order to turn them into the manliest of men. Its methods are extreme however and it more closely resembles a prison than a school.

Starts out as a comedy with minor action elements that parodies manly men stereotypes, eventually fully transforming into a serious action-drama by the halfway point.

When someone wishes strongly enough to turn back time they may attract the attention of horologues, demonic creatures which drain the time from their victims to cause age regression and memory loss until there’s nothing left. Standing against these creatures are Kiri and Victor Putin, so-called Chronos Rulers with the ability to control time, who are hunting a specific horologue in order to reclaim Victor’s devoured memories.

A mixed-genre battle shounen with a lighthearted reaction-based comedy style.

One day after school Kazuya Kagami suddenly finds himself being rescued from the deadly attack of a covetous spirit by the spiritual manifestation of his late mother’s obi, who calls herself Kiriha and promptly moves in with him. This only marks the beginning of his troubles however, as he soon becomes embroiled in a city-wide epidemic related to his forgotten past.

A slapstick action comedy with a prominent ecchi subfocus that shifts over to a loli specialization in the 4th episode.

Sousei no Onmyouji

Rokuro Enmadou and Benio Adashino are both exceptionally powerful exorcists with tragic pasts. Though Rokuro responded to the tragedy by swearing off exorcism, in Benio’s case it only motivated her to become more powerful. Now the two of them have been proclaimed the ‘Twin Star Exorcists’ and must work together to cleanse the world of evil spirits.

A battle shounen slightly darker than usual with a fairly even mix of comedy, drama, and action. The romance aspect, despite being introduced early, does not become a central focus until the 10th episode while the comedy eventually ends up taking a backseat to the action/drama.

A couple years have passed since Sasuke left the village. Naruto and Sakura continue their search for him while Akatsuki persist on their quest to collect all of the Tailed Beasts, and all eventually get caught up in a catastrophe of world-ending scale.

Continuing from where the first series left off, this one ultimately isn’t much different besides having a fondness for flashbacks: It’s still a mix of comedy, action, and drama peppered with Anime-original filler content to extend the duration. The characters do behave less childishly though, and most of the canon content leans more toward the dramatic.
