Rin lives in a small countryside village while Finis resides in the capital city, and the two couldn’t be more different. Yet both possess the mysterious Power of Song which is strong enough to create something from nothing as if by magic. However, what can create can also destroy and there are those that wish to use that power in war, a desire which sets the world on a path to ruin.

A music-themed war drama with occasional splashes of comic relief which eventually transforms into something resembling a disaster thriller.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Hen

It’s the start of Sakura’s first year of middle school and Shaoran has returned. What should be a happy reunion however becomes complicated when the Clow Cards begin to change and Sakura’s dreams take on a sinister cast.

Part school life slice of life and part magical girl action-drama with a liberal amount of comic relief distributed throughout. It continues from where Sakura to Futatsu no Kuma left off following a brief time skip.

What starts as just another school day for Sakura quickly becomes something more when first Eriol announces that he’s moving back to England and then Shaoran makes a shocking announcement of his own.

A romance-focused bridge between the movie conclusion of the first series and the 2018 continuation. If you haven’t seen those earlier works the character references here won’t make much/any sense.

Idolish Seven

Wanting to expand into the idol business, Otoharu Takanashi has scouted seven promising young men to form a new group that will be managed by his daughter Tsumugi. Becoming successful will be an uphill battle however as not only do neither she nor the boys have any experience, but the owner behind the current top idol group has taken an unhealthy interest in them as well.

An idol-centric drama whose character interactions occasionally act as comic relief.

Cosmic Fantasy: Ginga Mehyou no Wana

The Cosmic Security Company was created 20 years ago in response to rampant piracy and criminal activity across the galaxy. One of its more popular employees today is the Cosmic Hunter Yuu, who has recently received a special Medal of Heroism for rescuing a princess. This doesn’t sit well with the space pirate Belga however and she’s determined to put him in his place.

An action-focused original story set in the world of the Cosmic Fantasy RPG series. It does not require any familiarity with the games to follow.

Though Mo Lan has long had a crush on Yifeng Liu he doesn’t see her as anything more than a friend… and a male friend at that. One day she comes across a magical flower that has the ability to transform her into a long-haired beauty, a form in which she gets to see an entirely different side of him.

A school-life romance with a large amount of comic relief and minor fantasy elements which become more pronounced toward the end.

Wo De Tian Jie Nuyou

While investigating a power outage on the roof Xiong Ma Ying discovers a girl floating in mid-air who promptly gets knocked unconscious by a bolt of lightning. Not believing his eyes but wanting to help her all the same he attempts CPR, only to be violently rebuffed as the girl, a cultivator by the name of Muzi Li, suddenly regains consciousness. Not quickly enough to prevent some of her power from transferring into Xiong however, and now he’s faced with a choice: Join the secret world of cultivation as her partner… or die.

A multi-genre series, featuring a relatively even mix of romantic comedy, action, and drama, with a small amount of ecchi content.

No Game No Life Zero

Six thousand years before Sora and Shiro were brought to Disboard the world had been reduced to rubble by the constant warfare between the various races. Lacking magical power or equivalent physical abilities, humanity has been reduced to the role of scavengers, picking through the wreckage looking for anything that will help them avoid becoming collateral damage. Leading them is a young man named Riku, who with the help of an abandoned android just may be able to light the spark that brings change to the world.

A flashback prequel to No Game No Life which features comparatively little comedic content. While meant to be watched after that series, it can also be viewed as a stand-alone.

BATMAN NINJA

Transported, along with his allies and all of Arkham Asylum’s inmates, to what appears to be feudal Japan by one of Gorilla Grodd’s contraptions, Batman must find a way to both untangle the mess history has become and return to the modern day.

An action movie with both martial arts and mecha action along with a bit of comic relief in the form of the Joker and Harley’s personality. Be aware that it requires some basic knowledge of the Batman franchise to understand the character dynamics and that the English script differs significantly from the original Japanese version.

Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou

Having recovered from their battle against the Vertex, Yuuna and the others settle back into an everyday routine with their Hero Club duties. Something seems to be missing though, someone who should be there is not and Yuuna can’t quite shake her feelings of unease….

A continuation of Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru focused primarily on drama. It includes a recap of that series and requires having at least seen Washio Sumi no Shou.
