  • Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru

Posted on June 23, 2018 10:12 am by Offkorn Comment

With the help of a supercomputer humans became able to break the laws physics through a technology known as ‘Jushiki’, which allowed them to wield power similar to magic, an ability previously thought to belong solely to dragons and the abhorrents. Two hundred years following the discovery humans no longer fear either race and are instead locked in a state of constant warfare with them, with those known as Offensive Jushikiists serving as the front line.

An action series which periodically doubles as a character drama. It has a heavy political focus and minor romance, thriller, and comic relief elements.

  • No Game No Life Zero

Posted on June 3, 2018 5:14 am by Offkorn Comment

Six thousand years before Sora and Shiro were brought to Disboard the world had been reduced to rubble by the constant warfare between the various races. Lacking magical power or equivalent physical abilities, humanity has been reduced to the role of scavengers, picking through the wreckage looking for anything that will help them avoid becoming collateral damage. Leading them is a young man named Riku, who with the help of an abandoned android just may be able to light the spark that brings change to the world.

A flashback prequel to No Game No Life which features comparatively little comedic content. While meant to be watched after that series, it can also be viewed as a stand-alone.

The time of the All-Star Weekend has arrived and both Xiao Tang and Guo Chen end up selected to play during the second day’s audience participation events. Meanwhile, Xiu is deeply conflicted about the event as this will be the first time since it began that he’s an observer rather than a participant.

Picks up from where Quanzhi Gaoshou left off and requires having already seen that to understand the character dynamics.

  • Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shou

Posted on April 6, 2018 2:02 pm by Offkorn Comment

Chosen by their god to fight off the invaders known as Vertex, Sumi Washio and two of her classmates are granted the power to transform into heroes with superhuman fighting abilities. Strength alone is not enough however, and they must learn to effectively work together in order to defeat a progression of ever more powerful foes.

A stand-alone prequel to Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru featuring a similar mix of action, drama, and often comedic schoolgirl slice of life elements. There are no content differences between the movie and TV versions.

  • Overlord II

Posted on April 3, 2018 3:24 pm by Offkorn Comment

With Shalltear freed from mind control, Ainz now divides his attention between attempting to discover who was capable of controlling her, continuing to expand his fame as the adventurer Momon, and improving Nazarick’s strategic position though conquest. The first target being the nearby tribes of lizard men.

A mix of world building, drama, and action interspersed with romance-based comic relief similar to the prequel. As a direct continuation it requires having seen that first.

  • Ryuuou no Oshigoto!

Posted on March 31, 2018 4:37 am by Offkorn Comment

As the youngest shougi champion in history at the age of 16, Yaichi Kuzuryuu has already reached the pinnacle of his craft. With nothing left to strive for though he quickly falls into a slump, a slump only broken by the sudden appearance of Ai Hinatsuru. Just 9 years old, Ai made Yaichi promise to accept her as his disciple during the earlier championship match and her fresh approach to the game ends up being just the thing to revitalize his own playstyle.

A show that’s part serious sports series and part comedy, mostly of the misunderstanding-based and harem variety, which includes a small number of ecchi and romance aspects. Note that while there is a distinct focus on lolis there’s no romantic attention directed toward them.

  • Fate/Apocrypha

Posted on February 16, 2018 3:46 pm by Offkorn Comment

During the third Holy Grail War the Grail was lost due to outside interference, only to suddenly resurface sixty years later in the hands of a group of loosely allied magi who proclaim their independence from the Clock Tower association. A proclamation marking the start of a new Holy Grail War, one in which two teams consisting of seven master-servant pairings fight to the death in order to have their wishes come true.

An action-drama with a touch of ecchi, comedy, and romance. It’s a stand-alone story taking place in an alternate reality where the events of Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night never occurred.
