Another series that’s been floating around my recommendations page for ages, Brandon Varnell<\/a>‘s Wiedergeburt<\/a> novels (subtitle: Legend of the Reincarnated Warrior<\/em>) mimic Japanese LNs in structure.<\/p>\n

The first book starts off quite awful with an exceptionally clunky writing style only to improve a shocking decree after the time warp. From there through the fourth book it remains a fairly entertaining overpowered protagonist series, the only issue being the rather arbitrary flashbacks (which the author freely admits at one point were just an excuse to include sex scenes). The fifth one however comes across as more forced than usual and future event developments look to continue on in that mold.<\/p>\n

Randi Darren<\/a>‘s Privateer’s Commission<\/a> is one of the few books that survived the purge of anything that looked like it might be a fanservice-first series from my recommendation page, and I’m rather glad it did because it turned out to be a lot of fun with some hilarious ‘comedy of errors’ sequences. Not sure it’ll hold up if any potential continuation gives in to consummating the harem… but as a stand-alone it works incredibly well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
