{"id":12371,"date":"2025-03-16T08:02:04","date_gmt":"2025-03-16T08:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/?p=12371"},"modified":"2025-03-16T08:02:04","modified_gmt":"2025-03-16T08:02:04","slug":"ys-x-nordics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/ys-x-nordics\/","title":{"rendered":"Ys X: NORDICS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gog.com\/en\/game\/ys_x_nordics\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The tenth Ys game<\/a> fortunately takes a few steps backward from the dull cityscape of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/a-few-games\/\" title=\"A Few Games\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">IX<\/a> to more resemble the wilds of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/ys-viii-lacrimosa-of-dana\/\" title=\"Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lacrimosa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Storyline-wise it takes place between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/gaming-update\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the first two games<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/ys-memories-of-celceta\/\" title=\"Ys: Memories of Celceta\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Celceta<\/a>, and at least up to the fourth chapter doesn&#8217;t have much to complain about. Normal exploration is also fine while shipboard exploration reminds me a bit of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/assassins-creed-odyssey\/\" title=\"Assassin\u2019S CREED: ODYSSEY\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Assassin&#8217;s Creed Odyssey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>No the problem is mainly the combat; basically the game wants you to use a bunch of abilities with one character, switch to the other and do the same, then repeat. The end result being a hectic button-mashing mess most of the time with only boss battles changing things up, since there you&#8217;re going to want to alternate perfect blocks with heavy-hitting dual skills instead. It&#8217;s not bad exactly but&#8230; I don&#8217;t know.
