Ended up having to drop the first Hakyoku Yotei no Akujo no Hazu ga, Reitetsu Koushaku-sama ga Wakarete Kuremasen!<\/a> novel fairly quickly. The protagonist’s apparent lack of intelligence does not work at all well with the mannerisms she developed from being ‘comically’ poor. It’s a very unfortunate combination.<\/p>\n

The New Gate<\/a> (English subtitle: Where It End, It Begins<\/em>) doesn’t end up much better, starting off not too dissimilar to what would’ve happened if Kirito from SAO<\/a> were transported to the world of Leadale<\/a> after clearing the death game. The main issue here is that I can’t tell if the protagonist is a genuine idiot, or if he’s being written as an idiot solely to provide exposition to the reader… and I don’t care enough to keep reading long enough to find out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
