As it turns out, there was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gog.com\/game\/bound_by_flame\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">an unrelated game<\/a> released between them which bridged that technological gap.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to <em>War Logs<\/em> it has more fluid combat, larger and more varied environments, and slightly better dialog and voice acting (<em>Technomancer<\/em> improves on all those aspects further). However gameplay length is about the same and backtracking is certainly still an issue when completing sidequests. Meanwhile the final boss fight is oddly far more difficult than anything that came before and I was only able to clear it by abusing the &#8216;Speed Demon&#8217; ability&#8230; I&#8217;m not sure how a Warrior is supposed to manage, but a Pyromancer could probably just spam firebolts.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than reminding me of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gothic_(video_game)\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Gothic<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Deus_Ex\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Deus Ex<\/a> though, it instead brings to mind (a greatly simplified) <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Witcher_2:_Assassins_of_Kings\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Witcher 2<\/a> mixed with a bit of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/lords-of-the-fallen\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Lords of the Fallen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, just as its release date fits between <em>War Logs<\/em> and <em>Technomancer<\/em>, so does its playability.
