Deborah Baker, is not a part of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Seanan_McGuire\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seanan McGuire<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/indexing-reflections-wayward-children\/\" title=\"Indexing: Reflections &#038; Wayward Children\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wayward Children<\/a> series. In all ways that matter it&#8217;s pretty much identical to those books&#8230; so why did she invent a new alias just for this? To trick people who hated that series into thinking it would be more like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/middlegame-sirens-song-honors\/\" title=\"Middlegame, Siren\u2019s Song, &#038; Honors\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Middlegame<\/a> instead?<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the reason, I&#8217;d suggest avoiding it unless you love <em>Wayward Children<\/em> and\/or enjoy paying $12 for less than 200 pages of story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michelle_Sagara\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michelle Sagara<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Conflict-Chronicles-Elantra-Michelle-Sagara-ebook\/dp\/B08FYPCGSM\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">16th Elantra novel<\/a> goes in an unexpected direction from where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/cast-in-wisdom-a-killing-frost\/\" title=\"Cast In Wisdom &#038; A Killing Frost\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cast in Wisdom<\/a> left off. I had thought it would focus on the protagonist learning to read her marks, but it instead centers on semi-completing Bellusdeo&#8217;s character arc and reducing the number of directionless Cohort members laying about. Though to be fair it <em>also<\/em> introduces a new character who looks like they&#8217;ll help quite a bit in the &#8216;deciphering marks&#8217; department.<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s&#8230; more of the same I suppose?
