Well, only one serious one; the protagonist is occasionally extraordinarily dumb. This is more of an issue in the first book before he comes into his power, but even later on he&#8217;ll occasionally slip into a caricature of a teenage gambling fanatic.<\/p>\n<p>Lesser issues, the first of which I perhaps should have expected considering the title, are the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Progress_Quest\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Progress Quest<\/a>-levels of obsession regarding &#8216;making number go up&#8217;, haphazard method of introducing (and discarding) potential love interests, and visual similarity between some of the key characters&#8217; names.<\/p>\n<p>So far at least it has both lived up to its title while steadily expanding a background mythology that brings to mind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.offkorn.com\/blog\/tate-no-yuusha-no-nariagari\/\" title=\"Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari<\/a>&#8216;s.
