Neural Wraith 4 & Dungeon Diving 303

The fourth of K.D. Robertson‘s Neural Wraith novels pretty much holds the line with more of the same. There are neither any surprises nor particular disappointments, and the only issue I had was that it occasionally gets a little preachy regarding forms of government.

While I ended up enjoying Bruce Sentar‘s Dungeon Diving series despite my initial expectations, this eleventh installment is pretty much exactly what I’m not looking for. It picks up immediately from the tenth’s cliffhanger and then proceeds to essentially tread water for the majority of its pagecount. Sure the ‘hostile adventurer guild’ subplot is resolved, but most of the focus is on fighting dark elves (completely arbitrary and lacking any narrative weight, you’d be better off fighting naga) and the acquisition of a new harem member (painfully forced).
