The BALLAD of FALLING DRAGONS & QUARKS AND QI

Sarah A. Parker‘s second Moonfall novel has suffered from a number of release delays that, after seeing the rather unfortunate additions to the book’s title, appear to have been publisher-related. While this still hits the same notes as the prequel, it feels like it’s going in circles narratively and I ended up dropping it halfway through when the stupid blood-bond subplot reappears out of nowhere.

A novel that briefly appeared on my recommendation list, yet stuck around in the back of my thoughts until recently when I finally gave in and picked it up, J.L. WilliamsQuarks and Qi turned out shockingly entertaining. It has a similar concept as Manaforged Robotics‘ except (perhaps because the technology here is like magic) with the two genres far better integrated. I didn’t even mind that the fantasy world is cultivation-focused.
